FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women’s tennis team dropped its first match in Orlando to Bucknell on Tuesday night, 6-1.

The Bison came out and grabbed the doubles point by winning at all three positions by the score of 6-2.

In singles action, Nicole Aragones picked up the only point for the Stags with a win in the No. 3 spot, 6-4, 6-3. At No. 1, Sarah Stuhlmann, lost in three sets. After claiming the opening set 6-4, she fell 6-1 and 6-2 in the remaining two. Jessica Pil and Shelby Vertula each battled for three sets as well. Pil fell 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 4 and Vertula dropped 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5.

The Stags are back at it on Thursday against Northern Iowa.
