MIAMI -- The Fairfield University softball enjoyed another fast start in its game with Florida International University, but the first inning rally would be all that the offense could muster in the game. FIU tied the game in the bottom half of the inning and went on to a 10-3 win over the Stags.

As they have all season long, the Stags managed to push runs across the plate in the first inning, plating three runs tonight through a power surge that included a pair of home runs. Alisha Marshall was the catalyst in tonight's first-inning rally, getting on base after being hit by a pitch. Tori Reed followed with a two-run homer over the center field fence. Courtney Hankns would tack on another run with a solo home run to the opposite field.

FIU tied the game in the bottom of the inning with its own power surge, using a three-run homer to tie knot the score at 3-3. The team came back with five more runs in the bottom of the second inning, using two hits, two hit batters, and two walks to comprise the decisive inning. FIU finished its scoring with a pair of runs in the fourth inning, collecting the runs off an RBI single and a sacrifice fly.

The Stags continue their Florida swing with five games in Tampa, beginning with Saint Joseph's and Army West Point on Friday, March 17.
