FARMVILLE, Va. – Alex Ferrante carded a final round 70 (-2) to lead the Fairfield University men’s golf team to a 12th-place finish at the Manor Intercollegiate. Ferrante’s below-par round slotted him at 29th in the 90-golfer field.

After turning in the lowest round by a Stag this weekend, Ferrante posted a 223 (+7) over the 54-hole event. He was three strokes out of the individual top 20 and five shots out of the top 10. Kevin Duncan followed with a 227 with Alex Taylor (236), Kellen Jordan (239) and Eric Austin (248) also hitting the course for Fairfield. The Stags outshot four teams at the tournament: LIU Brooklyn, Central Connecticut State, North Carolina Central and MAAC foe Iona.

Rhode Island won the team title with an aggregate 872, topping second-place Dartmouth by two strokes. On the individual leaderboard, the Rams’ Chris Houston and Delaware’s Jack Gianniny set the pace with matching scores of 213 (-3). Houston earned medalist honors with a birdie on the first playoff hole.

The Stags will now take a week off from competition before returning to action on Tuesday, April 11 at the Peacock Invitational hosted by Saint Peter’s at Neshanic Valley Golf Course.
