NESHANIC STATION, N.J. – The Fairfield University men’s golf team returned to action today for a round at the Neshanic Valley Golf Course for the Peacock Invitational. Led by a fourth-place individual performance from Thomas Urciuoli, the Stags placed third in a field of seven teams that included five MAAC squads.

Urciuoli carded a 73 (+1) on the day to finish three strokes off the pace set by individual medalist Ryan Rodriquez of host Saint Peter’s. Conner Beakey was one shot behind Urciuoli with a 74 (+2) followed by Kellen Jordan’s 75 and a 76 from George Cultraro. Andrew DeMarco (81), Matthew Walsh (83) and Kevin Walsh (84) also hit the links today for the Stags.

Fairfield’s third-place score of 298 slotted them one stroke behind Rider and six shots below tournament winner Saint Peter’s. Among the other MAAC teams on the course today, the Stags topped Monmouth by one stroke and Siena by six shots.

The Stags are back at it this Saturday, April 15 at the Yale Spring Invitational in New Haven. That tournament at The Course at Yale is Fairfield’s final tune-up for the 2017 MAAC Championship set for April 21-23 at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
