Women's Tennis Drops First MAAC Contest

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield Unviersity women's tennis team dropped their first MAAC contest of the season on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Marist 4-3.

In a match that was delayed due to a quick rain storm, play started with the singles matches. Fairfield earned two wins in singles action, from Jessica Pil and Emily Lombardi. Pil picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 and Lombardi won by the same margin at No. 6.

The Stags played well in doubles action, picking up two of three. Lombardi paired with Karen McKeough for a 6-4 win in the second spot. And Diana Prinos partnered with Shelby Vertula for a 6-4 win at No. 3. 

Fairfield is back in action tomorrow when they host Sacred Heart at 3:00 p.m.
