Stags Complete Opening Round Play at Hartford Women’s Invitational

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women’s golf team returned to action on Friday for the opening round of the Hartford Women’s Invitational. Danielle Dalessandro paced the Stags at Tumble Brook Country Club with an 81 (+9) over the first 18 holes.

Dalessandro was followed on the leaderboard by Taylor Rogers (90), Jackie Schofield (95) and Arianna Palmeri (96). The quartet aggregated to a fifth-place performance after the first round.

Sacred Heart tops the team standings after 18 holes, led by matching rounds of 76 (+4) from Ellen Nighbor and Chelsea Sedlar. Quinnipiac’s Luciana Tobia set the pace on Friday with a 73 (+1).

The second and final round at Tumble Brook tees off on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The Stags are also slated to play 18 holes on Monday at the Sacred Heart Invitational at Great River Golf Club in Milford before heading to Lake Buena Vista, Fla. for the 2017 MAAC Championship. The three-day tournament from Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course begins on Friday, April 21.
