FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University baseball team will be making their first weekend trip from Alumni Diamond in nearly a month when they travel to MAAC foe Siena College for a key conference series. This series will be a rematch of the MAAC Championship Series when they Stags defeated the Saints to capture the tournament title. The three game slate is scheduled to begin on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Stags had their six-game winning streak come to a close with an 8-5 loss to crosstown rival Sacred Heart. Troy Scocca led the team with three RBI including a double in the first and a two run single in the ninth. The Stags’ freshman bullpen combination of Ian Halpin and Eli Oliphant held the Pioneers scoreless for the final three innings as Fairfield tried to mount the comeback.

WALLACE IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS: With his fifth complete game of the season in his last start, Gavin Wallace gained the national lead in that category. With one more complete game, Wallace will already be tied for ninth on the program’s single season record book.

THE SAINTS SCOUTING REPORT: One of the more dangerous offensive teams in the conference, the Saints have already slugged 24 home runs and scored 159 runs through their first 33 games of the season. Joe Drpich and Dan Swain have accounted for 11 of the team’s long balls with Swain tallying six, the second most in the conference. On the pitching side, Tommy Miller leads the pitching staff with a 2.86 ERA during his first three conference starts. Chris Ambrosi is right behind him with a 3.00 ERA in his first two starts in the MAAC.

UP NEXT: The Stags will play in their final midweek home contest of the year when they welcome Sacred Heart back to campus on Tuesday at 3:30pm.
