Women's Tennis Falls in Semifinals

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's tennis team fell 4-0 to top seeded Quinnipiac in the 2017 MAAC Semifinals in West Windsor, N.J. on Saturday afternoon.

In doubles action, the Bobcats clinched the point after winning in two spots. Diana Prinos and Shelby Vertula fell 6-1 in the third spot and the pair of Emily Lombardi / Karen McKeough were outlasted 6-1 at No. 2.

Quinnipiac was able to secure three more points in singles play to earn the overall win. At No. 2, Nicole Aragones fell 6-1, 6-0. Diana Prinos lost 6-1, 6-3 in the second spot. And at No. 4, Jessica Pil dropped 6-0, 7-5. In the other three matches that went unfinished, Sarah Stuhlmann dropped the first set, but was tied 3-3 in the second. Shelby Vertula was tied 1-1 in the third set at No. 5. And Emily Lombardi was tied 4-4 in the second set after losing the first. 

The Stags have officially concluded their season at 5-17 overall with a 4-3 record in MAAC play.
