FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Catcher Tori Reed couldn't have asked for a better start to her final regular-season weekend as the senior recorded four hits and six RBI to lead the Fairfield University softball team to a sweep of Saint Peter's University. The Stags won the opener by a 10-1 score in five innings and followed with an 8-0- five-winning victory in the second game.

Pitcher Destinee Pallotto received a lot of support from her teammates in the opener as the offense scored at least one run in all four innings in which it went to the batter's box. After Pallotto put up a zero in the top of the first inning, Reed started a two-out rally with a looping double to right center field that sent her into scoring position. Courtney Hankins dropped a base hit into right field that allowed Reed to score the game's first run.

In the second inning, Alisha Marshall got things started with a lead-off single. After Rachel Sieber's sacrifice bunt, Amanda Ulzheimer drew a two-out walk to put a pair of runners on base. Reed brought both runners home with a double that pushed the score to 3-0. After Pallotto escaped a second and third situation in the top of the third, Kristn Ball sent the ball over the left field wall to add two more runs to Fairfield's scoring total, bringing home Molly Roche who singled earlier in the inning.

The Stags put the game away in the fourth inning with five more runs as Reed scorched a two-run triple to the gap and later scored when Hankins lofted a sacrifice fly to right field Alisha Marshall closed out the scoring with a two-run single that made the score 10-1. Pallotto ended the game with two pop ups and a ground out to earn the victory.

In the second game, Fairfield scored in four of their five at-bats, missing only the second inning. In the first, a Saint Peter's error set up a run that would score after Hankins picked up her second sacrifice fly of the doubleheader. The Stags tacked on a run in the third inning when Angelina McGuire singled to start the frame and moved to third base off a pair of wild pitches. Reed increased the team's lead with a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-0 score.

Five more runs were put on the scoreboard in Fairfield's fourth inning rally which started with Ball's second two-run homer of the day. McGuire tripled to right center to bring home another pair of runs and eventually scored courtesy of Reed's double. The game ended with one-out in the bottom of the fifth as Molly Roche's solo home run to left field invoked the eight-run rule.

Karisa Hughen pitched the first four innings to earn the win, followed by an inning of scoreless relief by Ball. Hughen allowed two hits and struck out one batter while Ball yielded one hit and fanned one hitter. Pallotto went the distance in the opener and gave up one run off five hits with six strikeouts.

Fairfield will play its final regular-season doubleheader of the season when it hosts Quinnipiac University at Alumni Softball Field. The game is scheduled for a noon start. The Fairfield University community will honor the team's four seniors at the doubleheader.
