One of the best hitters to ever wear a Fairfield Stags baseball uniform suits up for his first season as the Stags' volunteer assistant coach. Salpietro returns to the program that he helped to its first MAAC Tournament Title last spring after being named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
The team will have a lot to learn from the right-handed power hitter. Salpietro graduated as the program’s second best home run hitter with 25 in his career. He also ranks fifth all-time in total bases (325), sixth in hits (200), and fifth in RBI (129).
Salpietro had his best year during Fairfield’s run to a tournament title. Salpietro set the single season program record with 77 hits during his senior season. He also clubbed 10 home runs, the second most in program history. He also ranked first on the single season list in total bases (128), third in runs scored (47), and sixth in doubles (17).
