OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Megan O'Sullivan of the Fairfield University volleyball team has been selected as a candidate for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award, as announced today by the organization. O’Sullivan is one of 30 NCAA Division I volleyball student-athletes chosen from a nationwide pool.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

A Nursing major in the University’s Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies, O’Sullivan was a member of the 2015 MAAC All-Academic Team and is a consistent selection to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll. In addition to her studies on campus, she completed a summer externship at the Mayo Clinic’s campus in her hometown of Phoenix, Arizona and has worked as a medical assistant at a cardiology office.

On the court, O’Sullivan was 2015 First Team All-MAAC honoree and a 2016 Preseason All-MAAC selection. The lone senior on the 2016 Stags, she is in her second campaign as a co-captain alongside junior Megan Theiller. O’Sullivan was a part of Fairfield’s 2013 and 2015 MAAC Championship squads, earning All-Tournament Team laurels following the 2015 postseason. She has racked up 665 kills in her career to date and ranks seventh in program history with 290 total blocks.

This fall, O’Sullivan has helped lead the Stags on a 10-match winning streak to build a 16-5 overall record. Fairfield, which is 9-0 after one round of MAAC play, begins its second trip through the conference slate this weekend with visits from Siena and Marist on Oct. 15-16. First serve from George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall on both days is set for 1 p.m.
