FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- After a three-game home stand, the Fairfield University men's basketball team will take a quick two-game road trip over the weekend before returning home for four more Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) games.

The road swing starts with a match up against Iona College on Friday night, a game which will be broadcast on ESPN3. Game time is slated for 7 pm. Two days later, Fairfield will head to Monmouth University for another ESPN3 game with Sunday's tip off set for 2 pm.

Fairfield will complete its two-game season series with the Gaels on Friday, looking to complete a sweep. The Stags picked up a 93-87 win over Iona on January 2 at Webster Bank Arena. Five Stags reached double figures in the game, led by Curtis Cobb's 22 points and Matija Milin's 21 markers. Jordan Washington came off the bench to score a game-high 28 points for Iona, making 11 of 15 field goal attempts and grabbing nine rebounds.

More recently, the Gaels come into the game with an 11-8 overall record and a 4-4 MAAC slate after picking up an 82-67 victory over Manhattan earlier in the week. Schadrac Casimir came off the bench to pace the Iona offense with 21 points, one of three Gaels in double figures. The team also received an 18-point effort from Jon Severe and 12 points by Rickey McGill. The game was tied at the half, 43-43, and remained knotted at 59-59 with 11 minutes left. The Gaels closed out the game with a 25-8 run that allowed the team to pick up the road victory.

Casimir collected his second 20-point and team-leading performance in the last three games, netting 27 points in a home win against Canisius. The guard has connected on 10 of his last 12 three-point tires over his last three appearances, raising his three-point field goal percentage to 43.6 percent on the season (34 of 55). Severe is the only Gael with a higher percentage from behind the arc, owning a .446 three-point field goal percentage. Jordan Washington serves as the team’s top scorer with an 18.0 scoring average which places second in the MAAC.

The Stags dropped their third straight game with their 69-55 decision against Saint Peter’s. Fairfield never led in the game as the Peacocks posted the first six points of the contest and never relinquished that advantage.

Jerome Segura led all Fairfield scorers with 13 points, the first time this season that the junior served as the team’s leader in points. Most of his points came from the three-point line, tying his career high with three three pointers against Saint Peter’s. Tyler Nelson was next in line with 11 points, his lowest point total since posting 10 points in a win over Army West Point in November. Amadou Sidibe just missed a double-double with eight points and 12 rebounds, registering seven points and 11 rebounds in the second half.

Nelson remains the team’s and the MAAC’s top scorer with 19 points per game, while Curtis Cobb (15.3 ppg) and Jerry Johnson Jr. (10.6 ppg) are also in double figures for the season. Sidibe’s game-high 12 rebounds raised his season average to a team and conference-best 10.6 per game.
