Stags Visit Orlando

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield women’s tennis team heads to sunny Orlando, Florida to face Bucknell on Tuesday, March 14 and Northern Iowa on Thursday, March 16.

The Stags are coming off a 7-0 loss to Northern Kentucky last Thursday. The Norse earned the doubles point after winning at all three spots with scores of 6-4, 6-2, and 6-2. In singles play, Northern Kentucky took all six positions in straight sets. Sarah Stuhlmann fell at No. 1 6-3, 6-2. Diana Prinos dropped 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2, and Jessica Pil lost 6-0, 6-4 in the third.

The Bison go into Tuesday's match having not competed since March 4 when they lost 7-0 to Delaware. But overall the Bison are 5-2 on the season and had won three matches in a row against St. Bonaventure, Niagara, and Marist before falling to the Blue Hens.

The Panthers of Northern Iowa are 6-2 on the season and last competed against Upper Iowa on March 4, winning 6-1. Before taking on Fairfield, Northern Iowa will face Navy on Tuesday also in Orlando. In their last win, the Panthers earned five singles wins, four in straight sets. And in doubles action, they grabbed victories in the second and third slots.

After returning from Orlando, the Stags will begin spring conference play with a MAAC match at Saint Peter’s on March 26.
