Men's Tennis Begins MAAC Play at Saint Peter's

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men’s tennis team travels to Jersey City on Saturday for their first MAAC match of the spring against Saint Peter’s.

The Stags headed down to Orlando for a match against Liberty on March 15. Brad Orban picked up the lone win for Fairfield in the 6-1 loss. At No. 1 singles, the junior earned a hard fought 7-6, 7-5 win. Both Dylan Appel and Tyler Shibles forced three sets at No. 5 and No. 6 but were unable to secure the victory.

Saint Peter’s sits at 1-13 overall this season and is 0-3 in league play thus far. Their most recent match was a 7-0 loss to Siena on March 19. The Saints swept all six singles matches in straight-set fashion. And in doubles action, partners Doug Rover and Gabe Russotto grabbed a 6-3 win at No. 2 for the Peacocks.

Fairfield will hit the courts next on Friday, March 31 against Monmouth on the WAC Tennis Courts at 2:00 p.m.
