FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield women’s tennis team is set to play two more matches this weekend. On Sunday, the Stags will travel to South Orange, N.J. and take on Seton Hall at 1:00 p.m. And on Monday, they will host Monmouth on the WAC Tennis Courts for a 3:30 p.m. MAAC contest.

Fairfield lost in heartbreaking fashion at Wagner on Wednesday afternoon. After the Seahawks earned the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, Fairfield tied the match in singles play. Sarah Stuhlmann, Diana Prinos, and Jessica Pil won their matches at Nos. 1, 3, and 4 respectively. It came down to No. 6 singles where Madison Pautsch outlasted Emily Lombardi 7-6, 7-5 to earn the point and the match win for her squad.

The Pirates of Seton Hall sit at 6-6 on the season, and have won two of their last three matches. Most recently, they fell to Big East foe Xavier, 5-2, on March 26. The Musketeers swept the doubles action, and won four of six matches in singles play. The Pirates earned victories from Anna Fajnorova at No. 2 and Melody Taal at No. 4.

Monmouth is currently 1-2 in conference play heading into the weekend, but will play a non-conference match against St. Francis on Saturday and a MAAC contest against Niagara on Sunday before heading to Fairfield on Monday. Last time out on March 26, they fell to Marist 7-0. The Red Foxes won all nine singles and doubles matches on the day to shutout the Hawks.

After this two-game swing, the Stags will close out the season playing four out of their last five matches on the WAC Tennis Courts beginning with Niagara on Sunday, April 9.
