FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men’s tennis team will travel to Hamden for their final road match of the season. The Stags’ matchup with Quinnipiac is slated for 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Fairfield sits at 3-2 in conference play with just two matches left and still a chance to earn their spot in the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. Last time out, the Stags fell to Marist 6-1 on April 11. The team went up 1-0 after claiming the doubles point. At No. 3, Dylan Appel and Tyler Shibles picked up a 6-1 win. And in the second spot, Ethan Ammon / Jeffrey Rodgers battled for an exciting 7-6 win to claim the point. But the Red Foxes took control of the singles matches, sweeping all six in straight sets to win the match.

Quinnipiac is 4-1 in the league this season, with their only loss to Marist on April 5. In their most recent MAAC contest, the Bobcats swept Siena 7-0 on April 9. They won all three doubles matches and then went on to win all six singles matches in straight sets.

After Wednesday, Fairfield returns to the WAC Tennis Courts for the regular season finale against Siena at 3:00 p.m.
