FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield University will host three NCAA Men’s Lacrosse championship events between 2019 and 2022, including the 2021 and 2022 NCAA Division I, II and III Men’s Lacrosse Championship, at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. Fairfield will also host the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Quarterfinals, as announced by the NCAA on Tuesday afternoon.

The 2019 quarterfinals will be held on May 18 or 19 while the 2021 (May 29-31) and the 2022 (May 28-30) championships will be played over Memorial Day weekend of those respective years.

While this will be the first time that Fairfield University will host NCAA men’s lacrosse championship events, the institution has welcomed seven NCAA women’s basketball events (2004, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2017) and four NCAA men’s ice hockey regionals (2009, 2011, 2012, and 2014) to the state. Fairfield University Director of Athletics Gene Doris, who serves as the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Committee Chair, has been at the heart of bringing these events to Connecticut.

“I am excited that the NCAA has given us an opportunity to host the men’s lacrosse quarterfinals and championships in the state of Connecticut,” Doris said. “The support for these events has been overwhelming. We are fortunate to host this event at a first-class facility like Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.  I look forward to providing the coaches, student-athletes and all lacrosse fans a memorable experience.”

Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field is Connecticut’s leading sports and entertainment stadium. Managed by Spectra Venue Management, the stadium features 38,000 seats and is the premier regional location for large outdoor sports and entertainment events. Conveniently located between New York City and Boston in East Hartford, Connecticut, the stadium features chair backs and bench seats in its open-air stadium bowl with a Kentucky Blue Grass natural playing surface. The stadium features 38 luxury suites and a 635-seat club.

“We’re thrilled,” said Spectra Venue Management General Manager Chris Lawrence. “These are prestigious events and we’re honored to be hosting.  We look forward to working with Fairfield, the NCAA and everyone else involved.  This is a major win for East Hartford and the entire region. Pratt & Whitney Stadium will be a terrific site for these championships.”

Additional information regarding tickets and other key tournament dates for the 2019, 2021, and 2022 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse championships will be posted when available on the websites of the NCAA Championships and Fairfield University Athletics.
