FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University baseball team will try for their fifth-straight series win when they welcome in the Saint Peter’s Peacocks to Alumni Diamond for a three game set during Easter weekend. The Stags and the Peacocks will begin their slate on Friday at noon and will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Stags scored 25 runs and hit six homers during their 2-0 midweek mark as they defeated Hofstra and NYIT on the road. Mitch Williamswas the story during the week as the junior blasted three home runs in the 17-11 win at Hofstra, becoming the second player in program history to accomplish the feat. The only other Stag to hit three homers in the same game was Mike Svab who slugged the three long balls 30 years ago. Coincidentally, both were first baseman and both set the program mark exactly 30 years apart on April 11.
THE PEACOCKS SCOUTING REPORT: Saint Peter’s is looking for their first win of the 2017 campaign as they enter the weekend with a 0-15 record. The Peacocks have three student-athletes with a batting average over .300 with Paul Schifilliti leading the club with a .371 average in 35 at-bats.
UP NEXT: The Stags will host two more games during the week when they welcome Fordham on Tuesday and Sacred Heart on Wednesday with both games starting at 3:30pm.
