Daly Leads the Way at NCAA Northeast Regional Championship

BRONX, N.Y. – Sam Daly placed 42nd out of 245 runners to lead the Fairfield University men’s cross country team at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship this afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. Daly the finished the 10K course in 31:41.11.

An All-MAAC honoree for his 10th place showing at the conference meet two weeks ago, Daly continued to set the pace for the Stags today. He was followed across the finish line by fellow senior co-captain Mike Flanagan (34:05.28) and his brother Scott Daly (35:12.70) as Fairfield’s top three performers. Mike Bodie (35:22.49) and Jordan Dixon (36:45.66) rounded out the scoring quintet of Stags on the course today.

The Stags placed 30th on the team leaderboard, topping Holy Cross, Hofstra, Bryant, Colgate and St. Bonaventure. Syracuse won the NCAA Regional Championship, led by individual winner Justyn Knight, who set the pace at 30:30.52. MAAC Champion Iona placed second behind the Orange.

Fairfield concludes the 2016 season next Saturday, Nov. 19, with a return to Van Cortlandt Park for the IC4A Championship.
