Hastings, Angell Receive MAAC Postseason Honors

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Angus Hastings and Didrik Angell represented the Stags as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced its annual men's soccer postseason honors on teams on Thursday night. Hasitngs drew a spot on the conference's second team for the second straight season as a defender, while Angell collected a berth to the MAAC's All-Rookie team.
Hastings has been an integral part of the Fairfield defense over his three seasons, helping the Stags rank among the conference's top units. He started all 15 of his appearances in 2016, missing only a pair of games for the season. Hastings also made his mark on the offensive side of the field, scoring the game-winning goal against Iona for a 1-0 overtime victory.
Angell made his mark in the offensive third with strong play as a forward, scoring three goals and collecting six points in his 13 appearances. He scored his first career goal against Hartwick, before posting a pair of goals in conference play. Angell started his MAAC scoring career with a goal in Fairfield's 3-1 win over Marist College. He followed up with his final goal of the season in the Stags' 3-3 draw against Manhattan College. Angell was the team's fourth leading scorer in 2016 while his point total led all Fairfield newcomers.
Fairfield finished the 2016 season with a 5-9-3 overall record and a 3-6-1 conference slate.
