Stags Compete at NCAA Northeast Regional Championship

BRONX, N.Y. – The Fairfield University women’s cross country team continued its Championship Season at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship this afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. Kaylee Bergen paced the Stags on the 6K course.

Bergen turned in a time of 23:15.40 and was followed closely by teammate Stef Vickers at 23:26.90. Sami Carey (24:28.80), Jacqueline-Ann Willsey (24:35.10) and Kelsi Farren (24:58.60) also factored into the scoring for the Stags.

Fairfield placed 34th in the team standings ahead of Colgate, Maine and St. Bonaventure. Providence – the third-ranked team in the nation – won the team title with all five of its scoring finishers among the top 18 overall. Individual honors went to Elinor Purrier of New Hampshire, who beat the field with a time of 20:08.70.

Fairfield concludes the 2016 season next Saturday, Nov. 19, with a return to Van Cortlandt Park for the ECAC Championship.
