Stags Conclude Fall at ECAC Championships

BRONX, N.Y. – The Fairfield University women’s cross country team was in action for the final time in 2016 today, hitting the course at Van Cortlandt Park for the ECAC Championships. The Stags competed in the University division, where they were led to a 13th-place team finish by Kaylee Bergen.

Bergen finished the 5K course is 19:28 to place 31st in a field of 176 runners.  Stef Vickers added a time of 20:20 in her final meet as a Stag, followed by Sami Carey (20:41), Kelsi Farren (20:47). Seniors Sarah Morrissette (21:01) and Jacqueline-Ann Willsey (21:06) were five seconds apart in their farewell runs, with fellow seniors Gabriella Vezza and Julia Wood also pacing each other at 23:16 and 23:33.

The Stags’ 13th-place performance slotted them ahead of five squads: MAAC foe Canisius, Seton Hall, Colgate, Robert Morris and NJIT. Monmouth won the race with five of the top-40 finishers, while Northeastern’s Jordan O’Dea was the individual victor with a mark of 18:22.
