Austin Leads Stags to Second Place at SHU Fall Classic

MILFORD, Conn. – Led by a third-place 149 (+5) from Eric Austin, the Fairfield University men’s golf team placed second at the SHU Fall Classic this week at Great River Golf Club. The Stags topped Holy Cross but were clipped by host Sacred Heart in the two-round tournament.

Austin carded a 73 this afternoon – the lowest round by a Stag in the tournament – to round out his third-place performance. He was followed on the leaderboard by Kellen Jordan with a fourth-place 154 and Kevin Duncan’s fifth-place 155.

Alex Taylor and Alex Ferrante tied in 10th place in the 20-golfer field with matching scores of 158. Thomas Urciuoli added a 163 and Parker Riordan fired a 172 to round out Fairfield’s competitors at the event.

The Stags turned in a two-day score of 614 to secure second place. The host Pioneers won their home event by 15 strokes with a 599. Sacred Heart’s Clifford Lindholm earned individual medalist honors with a 142 (-2).
