Stags Selected Third in MAAC Preseason Poll

EDISON, N.J. – The Fairfield University men’s golf team has been selected to finish third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Stags’ spring season tees off in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. on March 13-14 at the Bash at the Beach hosted by Appalachian State.

The Stags tallied 54 points in the poll to land in third place. Siena nabbed seven first-place votes to take the top spot with 78 points, and second-place Manhattan collected one first-place vote. The remain first-place nod went to perennial contender Saint Peter’s, which landed in sixth place overall on the ledger.

Fairfield finished tied for fifth place at the 2016 MAAC Championship and returns all five of its participants from last year’s tournament.

The Stags will compete at a total of five events this spring, culminating with the 2017 MAAC Championship from Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. from April 21-23.
