Stags Wrap Up Play at Bash at the Beach

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Fairfield University men’s golf team completed action at the Bash at the Beach on Tuesday, carding their best round of the 54-hole tournament to place 12th. Individually, five of the six Stags to hit the links at the Surf Golf and Beach Club played their best 18 holes in the final round.

Fairfield entered the day tied with Florida A&M in 12th place, besting the Rattlers by six strokes today to take sole possession of that spot on the leaderboard. The Stags turned in a 304 in the final round to post a cumulative total of 935.

Eric Austin’s final round 74 was the best individual round by a Stag as he paced the team with a 229 (78-77-74). Thomas Urciuoli was right behind him with a 230 for the tournament (77-78-75). Alex Ferrante added a 232, Kellen Jordan notched a 238, Kevin Duncan carded a 239 with Alex Taylor following up with a 240.

South Carolina Beaufort won the team title with an 874, topped George Washington University by one stroke. Logan Lowe of GW and U Minn Woon of Fairleigh Dickinson split medalist honors as each golfer carded an even-par 213 for the tournament.

The Stags are back on the course beginning this Sunday, March 19 at the Cape Fear National Intercollegiate. Action from Wilmington, N.C. wraps up on Monday, March 20.
