FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University tennis programs have announced their spring 2017 schedules. Both the men’s and women’s teams have 17 matches slated with five to be played on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
The men’s non-conference schedule begins with matches against Davidson, Lafayette, Saint Joseph’s, and Drexel all in the first month of play. In March, the Stags will face in-state foe UConn and take part in the Yale Invitational competing against Yale, Stony Brook, and Marist. The team will head to Orlando, Florida for a neutral site contest against Liberty during the University’s spring break. Upon their return they will strike up conference play at Saint Peter’s followed by five home matches and one trip to Quinnipiac to close out the regular season.
The women’s team opens up their year at St. John’s on January 27. Their next string of non-conference matches includes Lafayette, Saint Joseph’s, Drexel, Yale, and Northern Kentucky. After a trip to UConn on March 22, the Stags will open MAAC play at Saint Peter’s before taking on two more non-league members in Wagner and Seton Hall. Five of their final six matches will be played on the WAC Tennis Courts as the team closes out their regular season and conference foes.
The 2017 MAAC Tennis Championships will be held on April 29 and 30 in West Windsor, New Jersey with the winner to claim the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
