Men's Tennis Faces UConn on Thursday afternoon

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men’s tennis team travels to face in-state foe UConn on Thursday at noon in East Hartford, Conn.

This past weekend, the team dropped a close 4-3 decision to Boston University at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. The Terriers jumped out to a 1-0 lead after taking two doubles matches to earn the always important doubles point. In singles action, Fairfield grabbed three wins against the Terriers. At No. 1, Brad Orban collected a 6-2, 6-1 win. Anthony Caputo picked up a three set win at No. 2 (6-3, 3-6, 10-7) and Jeffrey Rodgers played in the third spot, earning a 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 win.

UConn is coming off a 1-1 weekend in which they picked up a 6-1 win over Southern New Hampshire before falling 7-0 to Brown. In their win over the Penmen, the Huskies swept doubles action winning easily at all three positions. Then in singles play grabbed five of the six wins, only faltering at the No. 1 spot.

The Stags next matches will be at the Yale Invitational on March 11 and 12 when they take on Yale, Stony Brook, and Marist over the course of the weekend.
