Men's Tennis Falls to Flames on Wednesday Afternoon

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's tennis team lost their lone match to Liberty, 6-1, on their Spring Break trip to Orlando. 

The Flames captured a 1-0 lead after taking the dooubles point by sweeping the Stags at all three positions. Brad Orban / Anthony Caputo fell 6-3 at No. 1, Jeffrey Rodgers / Tyler Shibles and Dylan Appel / Peter Colliard each lost 6-0 at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots respectively. 

In singles action, Orban got the only point of the day for Fairfield. At No. 1, he earned a hard fought 7-6, 7-5 win. In the next three spots, Caputo fell 6-4, 7-5, Rodgers dropped 6-2, 6-2, and Ethan Ammon fell 6-4, 6-2. Appel and Shibles each forced three sets in their matches. At the fifth spot Appel lost 5-7, 6-3, 10-8. And in the sixth position, Shibles fell 1-6, 6-1, 6-0. 

The Stags return to action on Saturday, March 25 with a MAAC match at Saint Peter's.
