Men's Tennis Takes Down Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's tennis team defeated cross-town rival Sacred Heart 6-1 on the WAC Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.

"Overall it was a great team win today under some very tough weather conditions," said Head Coach Jeff Bricker.

The Stags secured the doubles point after winning two of three. At No. 1, Anthony Caputo / Brad Orban secured a 6-4 win and at No. 2, Ethan Ammon / Jeffrey Rodgers grabbed a 6-3 win. 

In singles pay, Fairfield was able to win five of the six matches to grab the team win. Orban won easily at No. 1, 6-1, 6-2. Caputo was pushed to three sets in the second position, 6-2, 6-7, 10-7. Rodgers won in straight sets at No. 3, 6-1, 6-2. Dylan Appel secured a straight set win in the fifth spot, 6-2, 6-0. And in the sixth spot, Tyler Shibles earned a three-set victory, 6-0, 4-6, 10-2. 

Fairfield is back in action hosting Niagara on Sunday at noon for a MAAC match on the WAC Tennis Courts.
