Men's Tennis Falls to Marist

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's tennis team fell to 3-2 in MAAC play after a 6-1 loss to Marist on Tuesday afternoon.

The Stags went up 1-0 after claiming the doubles point. At No. 3, Dylan Appel and Tyler Shibles picked up a 6-1 win. And in the second spot, Ethan Ammon / Jeffrey Rodgers battled for an exciting 7-6 win to claim the point. 

Unfortunately for the homeside, Marist would go on to sweep all six singles matches in straight sets. Brad Orban at No. 1 lost 6-3, 6-3. At No. 2 Anthony Caputo fell in a tightly conteseted 7-5, 6-2 match. Rodgers played in the third slot, falling 6-2, 6-4. Ammon played at No. 4, falling 6-3, 7-5. At No. 5, Appel lost 6-1, 6-4. And in the sixth spot, Shibles dropped 6-3, 6-2.

 Fairfield's next match is on Thursday, April 20 at Quinnipiac at 3:00 p.m.
