Men's Tennis Falls 6-1 At Quinnipiac

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's tennis team fell to 3-3 in MAAC play after a 6-1 loss to Quinnipiac on Wedneday afternoon. The Stags still have a chance to clinch a spot in the 2017 MAAC Championships with a win over Siena on Saturday in the regular season finale. 

The Bobcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the taking the doubles point by sweeping the action. Brad Orban / Anthony Caputo forced a tie breaker at No. 1 before falling 7-6. Ethan Ammon / Jeffrey Rodgers lost a hard fought 6-3 match in the second spot, and Tyler Shibles / Dylan Appel fell 6-4 in the third slot.

Shibles was the lone Stag to earn a point in singles play. In the sixth position, he went three sets winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. In the top three spots for Fairfield, Orban lost 6-4, 7-6 in a tightly contested match against Kei Ezaka at No. 1. Caputo fell 6-3, 6-2 in the second, and Rodgers dropped a 6-3, 6-4 match at No. 3. 

The Stags host Siena on Saturday for their regular season finale on the WAC Tennis Courts. Action begins at noon for the women's match with the men's match to follow at approximately 3:00 p.m.
