Women's Tennis Challenges Northern Kentucky

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield women’s tennis team hosts the Northern Kentucky Norse of the Horizon League on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.

The team is coming off a 4-0 loss at Yale on Sunday morning. The Bulldogs quickly grabbed wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to earn a point. Jessica Pil with partner Diana Prinos fell 6-0 at No.2 while Courtney Connors and Meghan Zimmer fell 6-0 in the third position.

In singles action, Yale found wins at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 to secure the win. Prinos dropped in straight sets 6-4, 6-0, while Shelby Vertula and Karen McKeough each found themselves on the wrong end of 6-0, 6-1.

Northern Kentucky is 1-3 overall this season and coming off a 6-1 loss at Miami (OH) on February 26. Margita Sunjic secured the only point of the day for the Norse at No. 1 singles where she recorded a three set win.

Fairfield’s next matches will be in sunny Orlando, Fl. where they will play Bucknell and Northern Iowa.
