Women's Tennis Improves to 3-0 in the MAAC

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's tennis team improved to 3-0 in the MAAC with a convincing 7-0 win over Monmouth on Monday afternoon on the WAC Tennis Courts.

The Stags picked up three wins in doubles action to secure the point. Sarah Stuhlmann / Nicole Aragones won in the first spot 6-4. In the second position, Emily Lombardi / Karen McKeough grabbed a hard fought 7-6 win. And at No. 3, Diana Prinos / Shelby Vertula picked up a 6-1 victory.

In singles action, Stuhlmann won a three-set match at No. 1, 5-7, 6-0, 10-8. At No. 2, Aragones won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. In the third spot, Prinos grabbed a 6-4, 6-1 win. Jessica Pil played at No. 4 winning 6-0, 5-7, 10-5. At No. 5, Vertula earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory. And at No. 6, Lombardi captured a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

"I'm really happy with how we performed in the big moments today," said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "It was a great team win!"

Fairfield is back on the WAC Tennis Courts on Sunday at noon against Niagara.
