FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After an undefeated season in the MAAC, followed by a MAAC Championship, the Fairfield University women’s volleyball team continues to receive major national recognition. In their latest rankings, College Factual named the volleyball team among the Top 50 in the country for Division I women’s scholar student athletes.
Said Todd Kress, volleyball head coach: “We are all honored to be included in such an elite group. I am very proud of this group for all they do both in the classroom and on the court.”
Fairfield women’s soccer also received student-scholar national rankings. The team is ranked in the top 10% among Division I women’s soccer programs.
"Student-athletes choose Fairfield University because of its commitment to academic excellence and produce their best efforts in that atmosphere,” said Gene Doris, Fairfield University athletic director. “The recognition of our volleyball and women's soccer teams is an example of the emphasis our coaches and student-athletes place on that priority.”
For this ranking, College Factual uses data from the NCAA and US Department of Education, among others, to rank the schools based on athletic competitiveness, which uses polling from coaches and journalists; college quality, which includes caliber of student body, education resources, degree percentage, and post-grad earnings; academic progress rate, which looks at the success rate of passing courses and remaining academically eligible to play; and athletic aid per student.
