FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Junior Tyler Nelson added another accolade to his 2016-17 resume when the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) selected the guard for its annual postseason team. Nelson garnered a spot on the All-Met Second Team after earning All-MAAC and NABC All-District honors earlier in the year.

Nelson's success helped guide the Stags' to its fourth winning season under Head Coach Sydney Johnson, posting a 16-15 overall record and 11-9 MAAC mark. He led the team in scoring with a 19.5 scoring average, scoring in double-digits in all but one game as a junior. Nelson led the team in steals with 1.1 per game (35 total) and also placed second among his teammates with 3.6 per contest (112 total).

His scoring average was second among the MAAC scoring leaders, just 0.2 points off the top conference's top scorer. Nelson led the conference in minutes played per game (36.1) as well as rated fifth for free throw percentage (.856), 12th in steals (1.1 per game), and fourth in three pointers per game (2.6).
