TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Fairfield University women’s basketball senior Kelsey Carey has been named to the All-Met Second Team as voted upon by the Met Basketball Writer’s Association. Carey becomes the seventh All-Met selection in Head Coach Joe Frager’s 10 years with the program and the first to be named to the Second Team since Taryn Johnson in 2012.

Carey earns the accolades after scoring 468 points during the year, the most by a Stag since Katie Cizynski netted over 500 points during the 2013-14 campaign. The All-MAAC First Team member also led the team in points per game (15.1) and field goal percentage (.457). She was one of the main consistent scoring threats on the team, leading the squad in points in 19 of the 31 games during the past year, with 26 contests in double figures. Carey ranked fifth in the MAAC in scoring, and also placed in the top-10 in rebounds, field goal percentage, and minutes played.

Carey is joined by fellow MAAC student-athlete Julia Duggan from Rider on the Second Team. Hofstra’s Ashunae Durant, Seton Hall’s JaQuan Jackson, and Rutgers’ Shrita Parker also comprise the Second Team.

The First Team consisted of: St. John’s Aaliyah Lewis and Jade Walker, Rider’s Robin Perkins, Fordham’s G’mrice Davis, and Army’s Madison Hovren.

The MAAC also brought home a couple of major awards with Rider’s Lynn Milligan earning the Coach of the Year and Marist’s Rebekah Hand named the Rookie of the Year.
