
Women's Swimming & Diving Stops Manhattan 123-76

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's swimming and diving team downed Manhattan 123-76 on Friday night in the Stags' final home meet of the season.
The Stags had numerous multi-event winners on the night as Fairfield won nine out of 13 events.
Junior Kaitlyn Buckheit (Exton, Pa.) was victorious in both the 50m free with a time of 29.95 seconds and in the 100m free with a personal best of 1:05.26. She was also on the winning 400m medley relay that finished in 4:41.71.
Junior Meghan Carlson (Worcester, Mass.) set personal bests as she won the 200m IM with a time of 2:34.89 and the 200m back with a time of 2:31.45.
Senior Rachel Waldstein (Needham, Mass.) won the 200m fly with a time of 2:36.18 and was also on the winning 400m medley relay.
Rookie Katie Merz (Absecon, N.J.) captured the 200m free with a time of 2:14.36 and the 400m free with a time of 4:40.00.
Freshman Allie Russoniello (Middletown, N.J.) had a pair of second place finishes. She was the runner-up in the 200m free with a time of 2:19.56 and the 400m free by touching in 4:50.26.
Senior Sarah Dent (Muttontown, N.Y.) was the runner-up in two events and was on the winning 400m medley relay. Dent finished second in the 200m IM with a time of 2:35.45 and in the 200m back with a time of 2:33.90.
In the diving events, senior Katie Yee (Bethesda, Md.) won the 1-meter with a score of 207.38 and finished with a mark of 211.50 in the 3-meter. Senior Jennifer Silvia (Osterville, Mass.) was the runner-up in the 1-meter with a score of 192.00 and posted a score of 194.10 in the 3-meter. Sophomore Hillary Urbancic (Concord, Mass.) was third in the 1-meter with a mark of 178.88 and posted a score of 179.40 in the 3-meter.
Fairfield (6-4, 2-2 MAAC) will be back in action on February 2 when it travels to Baltimore, Md. for a double-dual meet against Iona and host Loyola.
