Cacky Keating Named MAAC Women's Swimmer of the Week

Feb 2, 2010

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University's Cacky Keating (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Swimmer of the Week. Keating, a freshman, had an impressive outing against Loyola and Iona setting program records in all four events she entered.

Keating won three events and was the runner-up in a fourth in the Stags' final dual meet of the year. She broke a pair of six-year-old program records in the butterfly events and was a member of two record-setting relays.

Keating captured the 200m fly in a time of 2:26.33 breaking Brittany Hunter's record of 2:26.91 set in 2004. In the 100m fly, Keating was touched out by Loyola's Caitlin Cassidy (1:06.76), but Keating's time of 1:06.87 was good enough to break Hunter's record of 1:08.24 set in 2004. Both times also were good enough for ECAC qualification.

Keating helped the Stags capture both relay events against the Gaels and the Greyhounds. She swam the third leg of the 200m medley relay which posted a winning time of 2:03.70 to break its own program record by almost two seconds. Keating also swam the second leg of the 400 freestyle relay that clocked a winning time of 4:04.19 breaking the previous standard of 4:08.19 set last season.

The Stags (6-5) will head to the 2010 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships, February 11-13, on the campus of Loyola College. For complete championship information visit MAAC Championship Central.
