NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed on Friday evening against Yale University at Kiphuth Pool. The Yale women defeated the Stags 182-89, while the Yale men defeated Fairfield, 201-56.
The Fairfield women fall to 5-6 on the season, while the Fairfield men drop to 1-8 on the year.
The Fairfield men's 200-yard freestyle relay team comprised of Matt Rimmer, Tom Scappaticci, Brian Lloyd, and Sean McGonigle finished with a winning time of 1:34.77.
McGonigle also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle finishing with a 51:31.
On the women's side, Brittany Hunter touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly, registering a winning time of 1:03.26. Carolyn Sheppard finished second with a 1:09.46.
In the women's 50-yard freestyle Sarah Dent finished second with a time of 26.18, and Erin Carrather was third with a 27.5.
Both the men's and women's team return to action on Saturday afternoon with a dual meet against Holy Cross. The meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m. in the RecPlex pool.
