FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to Yale University on Friday evening at Alumni Pool by scores of 197-43 and 188-55, respectively. With the loss, the men fall to 2-6 overall while the women drop to 6-4 on the season.
Fairfield was led by freshman Robert Willhoit (West Orange, N.J.) with two second-place finishes on the day, taking second in the 200-meter free and the 100 back. Other top-three finishers on the men's side were junior Mark Paciotti (East Stroudsburg, Pa.), who took third in the 100 free, and classmate Sean Killelea (Suffern, N.Y.), who took third in the 100 breast.
The women were led by diver Chrissie Mayr (Rockville Center, N.Y.) as she took second-place on the three-meter board and third-place on the one-meter. Freshman Liz Lawlor (North Wales, Pa.) turned in the best swim on the day for the women with a second-place finish in the 100 breast. Sophomore Brittany Hunter (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.), senior Kelly Steele (Chatham, N.J.) and freshman Erin Carrather (Westwood, N.J.) all turned in third-place performances in the 200 IM, 100 free, and 100 back, respectively.
The Stags' meet with Holy Cross, originally scheduled for tomorrow, Sat., Jan. 22, has been postponed due to a problem with the facility. As a result, Fairfield's next meet will take place on Sat., Jan. 29 versus Stony Brook at Alumni Pool at 1 p.m.
