FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Several Fairfield University men's and women's swimmers and divers turned in solid individual performances on Saturday afternoon in a dual meet with Holy Cross at the RecPlex Pool. The Fairfield men defeated Holy Cross 144-96, while the Fairfield women defeated the Crusaders 151-92.

The men's team improves to 2-8 overall, while the women's team improves to 6-6 on the season.

On the men's side, Sean McGonigle earned three victories for the Stags. In the 400-meter freestyle he posted a 4:23.30, and then came back to take the 800-meter freestyle with a 9:21.67. He completed the trifecta with a 2:03.86 in the 200-meter freestyle.

Matthew Rimmer picked up a win in the 200-meter backstroke with a winning time of 2:23.58. He was also a part of the 400-meter medley relay team with Sean Killelea, Brian Lloyd, and Mark Paciotii. The Stags finished with a winning time of 4:19.35.

Killelea also picked up a win with a 2:18.29 in the 200-meter IM.

Diego Ibarra posted a 218.03 to take the 1-meter dive. Rob Penwell was equal to the task in the 3-meter dive with a 215.75.

The Fairfield women also provided some individual highlights, as Brittany Hunter took home three events. She finished first in the 800-meter freestyle with 9:36.92. She touched the wall first in the 200-meter IM with a 2:31.17. She completed the three-peat with a 4:44.20 in the 400-meter freestyle.

The 400-meter medley relay team finished first with a 3:40.52. Jennifer Masi posted a 27.55 to win the 50-meter freestyle. In the 100-meter freestyle Masi would pick up her second win of the afternoon with a 1:00.94.

Sarah Dent cruised to a win in the 200-meter backstroke with a 2:31.04.

Katharine Yee earned another sweep in the diving events with a 222.08 in the one-meter dive, and a 225.23 in the three-meter dive.

The Stags return to action on January 28 with a dual meet at Stony Brook.
