BALTIMORE, Md. - Several school records fell during Fairfield's second day of competition at the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimming & Diving Championships at Loyola College.

Sophomore Drew Kingman (Wilton, Conn.) finished third in the 400 IM and set a school record in the event for the second time today. He posted a mark of 4:10.18, breaking the standard he had set in the preliminary round. In the prelim, he clocked a time of 4:12.52, besting Sean Killelea's mark of 4:15.46 set in 2005. Kingman was also a part of tonight's 200 medley relay that broke the school record with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:39.81. The quartet, which included Matt Rimmer (Branford, Conn.), freshman Boris Romanovsky (Marblehead, Mass.), and senior Tom Kozlowski (Farmingville, N.Y) broke the previous mark of 1:40.16 set in 2006. Rimmer was a part of that 2006 relay as well. Yesterday, Kingman set the new standard in the 200 IM. In just his fourth competition for the Stags, Kingman has become a part of nine school records.

Rimmer won the consolation final of the 100 back and placed ninth overall with a time of 56.28 seconds while junior Brian Lloyd (New Milford, N.J.) finished 12th with a time of 57.47. Romanovsky finished 16th with a mark of 59.27 seconds.

Also in the 400 IM, Lloyd placed 11th with a time of 4:28.12. Junior Sean McGonigle (Philadelphia, Pa.) placed eighth overall in the 1000 freestyle with a personal best and ECAC-B qualifying time of 10:11.38.

Freshman Taylor Stecko (South Windsor, Conn.) placed sixth overall in the men's 3-meter diving with a score of 350.55. Senior Russ Laub (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) placed 11th overall with a mark of 279.80.

The 800 free relay of Kingman, McGonigle, senior Tom Scappaticci (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Kozlowski posted a time of 7:26.82.

On the women's side, senior Brittany Hunter (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) placed third in the 1000 freestyle with an ECAC-A qualifying time of 10:37.99. Marist took the top two spots as Jenell Walsh-Thomas posted a winning time of 10:25.41 while Emily Hammang placed second in 10:27.10.

Junior Liz Lawlor (North Wales, Pa.) placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.86 to qualify for ECACs. Marist's Lauren Malski was first with a time of 1:03.55 while Niagara's Allison Carr was the runner-up with a time of 1:08.17. Marist's Lyndsay Martin touched out Lawlor with a time of 1:08.49.

Junior Sarah Dent (Albertson, N.Y.) finished eighth in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.65 while sophomore Kaitlyn Buckheit (Exton, Pa.) finished 11th with a personal best of 1:03.86. Sophomore Carolyn Sheppard (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) came in 15th with a time of 1:06.76.

In the women's 400 IM, junior Rachel Waldstein (Needham, Mass.) placed 11th overall with a personal best of 4:52.82 while Sheppard finished 16th with a time of 5:01.96.

In the women's 200 free, senior Jennifer Masi (North Haven, Conn.) clocked a time of 2:01.94 to finish 13th overall in the event.

The 200 medley relay of Dent, Lawlor, Hunter and Masi placed fourth overall with a time of 1:52.77. The 800 free relay of Hunter, Buckheit, Dent and Waldstein placed sixth with a time of 8:12.28.

After two days of competition, the Fairfield women are tied with Niagara for fifth place with 229 points. The men's team is in seventh place with 177 points.

Fairfield concludes action at the 2007 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships tomorrow.
