BOSTON- Fairfield University senior Brittany Hunter (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) placed seventh in the 500 freestyle while two divers finished in the top-10 to highlight the Stags opening day of competition at the 2007 ECAC Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Harvard University.
Hunter placed seventh overall in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:10.75. Marist College's Jenelle Walsh-Thomas, who captured the MAAC title in the same event, captured the ECAC crown as well with a time of 5:01.85.
In the men's 3-meter diving, freshman Taylor Stecko placed seventh with a mark of 226.20. In the women's 1-meter diving, junior Katharine Yee (Bethesda, Md.) placed ninth overall with a score of 192.35.
Senior Jennifer Masi (North Haven, Conn.) finished 13th overall in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.15 seconds.
In the men's 200 individual medley, sophomore Drew Kingman (Wilton, Conn.) placed 21st overall with a time of 1:59.58.
In the relay events, the 200 freestyle relay of Hunter, sophomore Kaitlyn Buckheit (Exton, Pa.), junior Liz Lawlor (North Wales, Pa.) placed 11th overall with a time of 1:42.32. Rider University took the top spot with a time of 1:37.71 while Marist was the runner-up with a time of 1:39.65.
In the 400 medley relay, the quartet of Sarah Dent (Albertston, N.Y.), Lawlor, Hunter and Masi finished tenth overall touching in 4:07.34. Marist placed first with a time of 3:49.94 while Rider was the runner-up with a time of 3:55.54.
