BALTIMORE - The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued action on the second day of the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships at the Fitness and Aquatic Center at Loyola College, Friday.
The Fairfield women's team stayed in fourth place, recording 268 points over the course of the past two days. The Fairfield men's team moved into seventh on Friday registering 195 points in the two days of competition.
Junior Diego Ibarra finished seventh in the three-meter diving posting 307.50 points, he was followed by senior Rob Penwell with 306.70 points, junior Charles Laub posted 239.05 points, senior Jon Barrett had 235.60 points, and freshman Christian Lopez had 166.65 points.
The women's 200-yard medley relay team finished third with a 1:50.75, sophomore Sarah Dent, sophomore Elizabeth Lawlor, junior Brittany Hunter, and junior Jennifer Masi comprised the team.
The men's 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Matt Rimmer, senior Sean Killelea, senior Raul Delgadillo, and senior Matt McAndrew posted a 1:40.16 to finish seventh in the race.
Hunter took second in the women's 1000-yard freestyle with a 10:30.65. Senior Kate Roche was 15th with an 11:07.52, and senior Bridget McKeon was 16th with an 11:10.84.
Masi finished 11th in the women's 200-yard freestyle with a 2:00.11, and Lawlor finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:08.48.
Delgadilio finished ninth in the men's 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:00.79.
Dent finished seventh in the women's 100-yard back stroke with a 1:02.08. Freshman Kaitlyn Buckheit was 14th with a 1:04.30, and freshman Carolyn Sheppard with 15th with a 1:04.67.
Rimmer finished ninth in the men's 100-yard backstroke with a 55.42, and was followed by McAndrew with a 56.82, and sophomore Brian Lloyd with a 57.09.
The Stags will conclude the MAAC Championships on Saturday with the final day of competition.
