LOYOLA, Md. - The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of competition at the MAAC Championships this evening.
Sophomore Brittany Hunter (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) had the top finish on the day for the women's team, taking third-place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.40. Hunter also swam as a member of the 400 medley relay team with freshmen Sarah Dent (Albertson, N.Y.), and Liz Lawlor (North Wales, Pa.) and senior Kelly Steele (Chtham, N.J.). The team took fourth overall, swimming the race in 4:04.49. Sophomore Jennifer Masi (North Haven, Conn.) rounded out the top swimming performances for the team with a seventh place finish in the 50 free, completing the race in a time of 25:07.
In the diving events, freshman Katharine Yee (Bethesda, Md.) took sixth-place in the one-meter event with 196.70 points while senior Chrissie Mayr (Rockville Center, N.Y.) took eighth with 169.10 points.
Men's results and team scores are not available at this time.
The second day of the MAAC Championships is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Fri., Feb. 18 at 10 a.m., with the evening session scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
