BALTIMORE - The Fairfield University women's swimming and diving team finished fourth, and the Fairfield men's swimming and diving finished fifth at the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimming and Diving Championships at the Fitness and Aquatic Center at Loyola College.

The men's team sat in seventh after two days of competition moved up two spots to finish fifth with 320 points. The women's team finished fourth with 402 total points. Both the Marist men's and women's teams won the team titles.

Sophomore Katharine Yee finished seventh in the women's three-meter diving with 298.80 points. Sophomore Jennifer Silvia finished 11th with 264.95 points.

In the men's one-meter dive, senior Rob Penwell finished sixth with 182.70 points, followed by junior Diego Ibarra with 176.45 points, senior Jon Barrett with 158.50 points, junior Charles Laub with 148.70 points, and freshman Cristian Lopez with 106.50 points.

Junior Brittany Hunter finished second in the women's 1650-yard freestyle with a 17:31.99. Senior Kate Roche was 12th overall and second on the team with an 18:31.08, and senior Bridget McKeon finished 15th with an 18:45.92.

In the men's 1650-yard freestyle, sophomore Sean McGonigle finished ninth overall with a 17:18.80, followed by sophomore Robert Devine with a 17:25.39, and junior Tom Scappaticci with 17:54.53.

In the women's 200-yard backstroke, sophomore Erin Carrather posted a 2:13.07 to finish seventh overall. Freshman Carolyn Sheppard, finished 15th overall with a 2:19.90.

In the men's 200-yard backstroke, sophomore Brian Lloyd finished ninth with a 2:03.56, and freshman Matt Rimmer was 14th with a 2:07.21.

Junior Jennifer Masi finished second in the women's 50-yard freestyle with a 53:50.

Sophomore Elizabeth Lawlor finished 3rd in the women's 200-yard backstroke with a 2:29.27.
