Fairfield, Conn. - The Fairfield University swimming and diving teams opened the home portion of the 2005-06 campaign with victories over Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Saint Peter's. The women earned a 140-44 victory and the men won 121.50-84.50. Both teams improved to 1-1 on the year, while the Saint Peter's squads dropped to 0-1.

Katharine Yee continued to impress in early season action, breaking the school's six-dive record on the one-meter board. Yee totaled 250.20 in winning the event, surpassing the 2002 record of Christine Mayr (243.75).

The Stag women won nine events on the afternoon. Kate Roche had two of those wins, capturing the 800 free (10:14.70) and the 100 free (1:06.57). Brittany Hunter was also a double winner for the Stags. She won the 200 free in a time of 2:15.59 and the 100 back in a time of 1:11.12. Jennifer Masi picked up her second 50 free win of the season, touching first in a time of 27.69, just shy of her school record set in 2004 (27.48). Masi and Hunter teamed with Sarah Dent and Liz Lawlor to capture the 200-medley relay (2:07.93) to start off the meet.

The men were paced by the three-meter sweep, led by Rob Penwell, who tallied 200.33 points. The men won the opening relay for the second straight meet, as Matt Rimmer, Sean Killelea, Raul Delgadilio and Matt McAndrew touched first in a time of 1:55.41.

Delgadilio captured two individual events as well for Fairfield. He touched first in the 200 IM (2:19.39) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.54). Killelea earned an individual win for the Stags, as he swam the 200 free in a time of 2:09.55. McAndrew earned a win in the 100 free (59.17) and Rob Devine won the 800 free for the Stags in a time of 9:36.56.

The Stags will return to action on Nov. 5, traveling to Baltimore, Md., for a tri-meet versus MAAC foe Loyola and Georgetown.
