Fairfield, Conn, - The Fairfield University women's swimming and diving team defeated Niagara Univeristy 144-99 this evening at home. The men dropped a heartbreaker to the Purple Eagles, falling 123-118.

The women are now 2-3 overall and 2-0 against foes from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The men fall to 1-4 overall and 1-1 against MAAC opponents.

Sarah Dent, Liz Lawlor, Rachel Waldstein and Jennifer Masi opened the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay, 4:40.83.

Brittany Hunter was a standout for the Stags on Friday night, with three individual wins. She started by pulling away for a win in the 800-free, touching in 9:29.98. Hunter turned around three events later to win the 200 IM, in a time of 2:31.73. She completed her impressive three-peat with a victory in the 200 fly, leading a Fairfield 1-2-3 sweep, touching in a time of 2:29.92.

Jennifer Masi was a two-time winner as an individual as well. She touched first in the 50-free, remaining undefeated, touching in a time of 27.51. She picked up the 100-free win as well, finishing in a time of 1:00.25, over three seconds ahead of the runner-up.

Dent earned a win in the 200 back, finshing in a time of 2:32.12. Lawlor scored a win in the 200 breaststroke, with a time of 2:47.94.

Katharine Yee won both boards for the women, finishing with 225.82 points on the one-meter board. She won the three-meter event with 211.12 points. Jennifer Silvia finished second on both boards, scoring 182.55 on the low board and 177.75 points on the three-meter board.

The men's 400-medley relay team of Matt Rimmer, Sean Killelea, Raul Delgadilio and Mark Paciotii picked up the win in a time of 4:15.00.

Rob Penwell finished second on both boards for the Stags, with 201.53 points on the high-board and 205.58 on the one-meter board. Deigo Ibarra led a sweep of the one-meter board with 208.05 points and was fourth on the three-meter board. Jon Barrett was third on both boards, with 182.25 on the three-meter and 177.83 on the one-meter.

Delgadilio posted an individual win for the Stags, winning the 200 fly, in a time of 2:21.60, just ahead of teammate Brian Lloyd. Rimmer earned a win for Fairfield in the 200 back, finishing in a time of 2:20.64
