POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to Marist College in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) clash Saturday afternoon at the McCann Center. The men's team dropped a 176-99 decision, while the women's team fell by a count of 178-106.

The Fairfield women's team falls to 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the MAAC, while the men's team falls to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the MAAC.

Junior Brittany Hunter earned a win in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:01.70, to lead the Fairfield women.

Also turning in solid performances for the women, were junior Jennifer Massi who finished first in the 100-yard butterfly with a 1:06.26. Freshman Jacqueline Mylroie was second in the race with a 1:12.73.

Hunter also took the 400-yard IM touching the wall in 4:47.75. Freshman Carolyn Sheppard was second with a 5:12.79, and senior Bridget McKeon rounded out the top three with a 5:21.38.

In the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, the Stags took the top two spots. The team of Sarah Dent, Elizabeth Lawlor, Erin Carrather, and Jennifer Massi registered a winning time of 1:46.41.

Christine Pfeifer, Kaitlyn Buckheit, Christine Burke, and Colleen Stranzl finished second with a 1:53.28.

The Fairfield men took the top three spots in the 500-yard freestyle, as sophomore Robert Willhoit finished first with a 5:12.33. He was followed by sophomore Robert Devine (5:14.09) and sophomore Sean McGonigle (5:30.81).

Freshman Jack Folcarelli won the men's 100-yard butterfly with a 59.74.

Like the women, the men were successful in the 400-yard IM, as senior Sean Killelea finished first with a 4:30.34. Senior Raul Delgadillo came in second with a time of 4:40.58. Sophomore Brian Lloyd was third with a 4:42.22.

In the men's 200-yard freestyle relay the team of Robert Willhoit, Robert Devin, Colin Fernandez, and Tom Scappaticci gave the Stags the win, in a time of 1:43.88.

Both teams are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 29 with a MAAC meet with Iona College. The first race is slated to begin at 6 p.m. in New Rochelle, N.Y.
