POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Fairfield swimming and diving team suffered another pair of tough losses this afternoon as the men fell to Marist, 199-70, while the women were edged by the Red Foxes, 183-101. With the loss, the men's team falls to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the MAAC while the woman fall to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Senior Brittany Hunter captured a pair of individuals events while senior Jennifer Masi won one individual event to highlight the women's afternoon. Hunter won the the 1000 yard free style with a time of 10:53.06 and posted a win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:22.45. Masi was victorious in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.18 seconds. Masi also placed second in the 100 yard free with a time of 56.54 seconds.

Junior Liz Lawlor added a pair of second-place finishes. She was the runner-up in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.17 and in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:38.32. Junior Erin Carrather also earned a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:20.08.

In the 100 yard backstroke, junior Courtney Nicholas posted a time of 1:07.47 to finish third while sophomore Kaitlyn Buckheit was close behind with a time of 1:07.86.

The quartet of Masi, Hunter, Nicholas and Buckheit teamed up to capture the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:46.26.

On the boards, Katharine Yee placed third in the 1-meter with a mark of 199.79. In the 3-meter, Liz Freskakis was the top-finisher for the Stags with a total of 126.23 points.

In the men's 1000 freestyle, junior Rob Devine clocked a time of the 11:09.74 to finish second in the event while freshman Tim McMullen placed third in a time of 11:25.16. McMullen also placed third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:33.46.

Junior Sean McGonigle notched a pair of third-place finishes for the Stags. He was third in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.81 and in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.66 seconds. In the 100 yard butterfly, freshman Boris Romanovsky placed third with a time of 59.49.

Freshman Taylor Stecko led the way for the Stags on the boards. On the 1-meter board, he finished third with a score of 232.20. He recorded 200.85 points in the 3-meter to place fourth overall.

The women's swimming and diving team will return to action on November 18 to compete against Manhattan. The entire teams returns to the pool on November 28 when Fairfield hosts Iona at 6 p.m. at the RecPlex.
